Another stable brand in many Australia fashionistas wardrobes since it's creation in 1987, Scanlan & Theodore's Adelaide store in Hyde Park, 310 Unley Rd had it's long anticipated opening with a guest list of fellow fashion industry makers mixed with celebrity and other notable media identities.
The architectural aesthetic of the store is classic yet stylish. Which makes for a perfect complimentary space to showcase Scanlan & Theodore's bold textures, luxurious fabrics and laser cut outs andsharp silhouettes which the brand prides itself on.

Friday after work drinks couldn't get better than this, Veuve Cliquote on arrival, a perfect Summers night and gorgeous surroundings poolside at the Hilton Adelaide. Not to mention the right mix of street luxe fashion from Cameo, Finders Keepers, Keepsake with shoes by Regina Sole Queen.
The opening section presented the array of delectable shoes literally served on platters. The highlight no doubt was seeing the return of international model Letitia Fitzpatrick to the runway; having recently worked in Hong Kong. Amongst a bevy of some of Adelaide's top walkers including Jaime Lee and Jovana Petrov. Fashion Friday definitely served up a treat to all those indulgent fashionistas who attended.

A bold move in the midst of a heat wave and a possible Summer shower, the Garden party was much more than your typical socialite get together with the chance to cool down with a few drinks in the Adelaide foothills.
With the aim of gathering not only press and social media but the buyers who support the labels, Cameo, Finders Keepers and Keepsake with the chance of meeting the designers and fellow fashionistas who have a addiction to the street wear luxe. It was also a chance to get a sneak preview of the collection which will be dropped within the next few cycles.

2011 saw me push past been involved in 50 shows since beginning in the Spring Summer of 2007. Even though this year the number of projects was down the quality was still there. Once again taking a senior and creative role. As well as two successful interstate work related trips to both L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion festival attending Alex Perry SS11/12 and Business seminar and Rosemount Australian Fashion week Spring Summer 2011/12 as an industry delegate.

Even before Day 1 I was a bit nervous due to accreditation problems and most likely been put on the back end of the list. Once you check your RAFW barcode in for your pass, reality sets in and your finally here. This year I'm extremely happy to have received 2 offsite shows, Kirrily Johnston and Lisa Ho added to my schedule.
Day 1 for me included assisting Filip Odzak of Fsquared2 backstage at Alex Perry, pretty much a scaled down version of his LMFF show. It was great to see local Adelaide models Vanessa Milde and new comer to the Finesse Model agency MJ who was the winner of the Colonades international model search competition.
Cabbing it to Icebergs with the talented photographer Leah McQueen to see Kirilly Johnston's Habitat show then back to the OPT on the delegate bus to see Friend of Mine's collection.
"Picture Me: A Model's Diary" Reception
Whether you're an aspiring model, an admirer or interested in the fashion world the film Picture Me: A Model's Diary is a must see documentary. Which follows the working and revolving life of once top international model Sara Ziff.
Even though it was released in 2009 the stories told still ring true today on issues of coping with stress, travel, age and financial responsibilities that a model encounters. What would you do with a $110,000 cheque after a job?
In today's fashion industry there are the changes in the ethical responsibility of using models that promote a healthy weight image and acceptable age. As well as professionalism in working relationships However these issues will always be of social concern.
The cinematic quality is raw, using handicams and editing quite comical with the subjects chapters been animated in a diary style. A documentary that will provide you with a snapshot that reflects a models life for some time and the way in which the fashion industry is seen to models use at their expense.
Final screening Tuesday 15 March 2.30pm at ACMI.

To coincide with the L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural program there is an exhibition currently running at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) called MANSTYLE. Even though it's not a huge collection it's still worth a look getting a brief historical perspective of early mens tailoring to some modern designs. The collection includes designs by Hedi Slimane, Rick Owens and Morrissey and Edmiston to name a few. The exhibition barely breaks the surface and further exploration into footwear, accessories and street wear would've given us a more rounded historical perspective.

Man Style runs until 27th November at NGV

As a frequent flyer I've witnessed some stylish and not so stylish outfits. And recently even read tweets people commenting on airport attire. There are of course no right or wrong rules of jetting style. However one must remember dress comfortable but not too comfortable and more importantly appropriately. Save the tracksuits for the couch and not lugging around your fake Louis Vuitton luggage. You may only be waiting in an airport or traveling for a few hours, but it's still part of the wider world where anyone and everyone can see your personal style on display. Traveling can also give you the opportunity to be bold or more daring than your usual routine.
The question is If you loose your luggage what would you like to be seen in for the remainder of your trip or at the very least to your first appointment?

Burberry Prorsum: Milan Fashion Week Menswear A/W 2011
MILAN, ITALY - JANUARY 15: Modelsl walk the runway during the Burberry Prorsum Fashion Show as part of Milan Fashion Week Menswear A/W 2011 on January...
After watching the Burberry Fall 2011 Mens Collection I came to the conclusion that a great closing finale is as important as the opening and often doesn't get the recognition as it should. Not to say that the first outfit and model should't be a show stopper. The creativeness of controlled 'rain' falling over models dressed in their classic but strong Burberry coats shelled by clear raincoats was memorable yet relevant.
A successful finale of any runway show should communicate the overall feeling and mood of the collection the strengths of cohesive design through musical personality choice of choreography and theatrical effect. The only thing left to touch on is the importance of runway etiquette of applauding only at the beginning if the finale when the full collection has been shown not half way through a designers which can tend to spoil the mood and become a distraction.
Whether engaging with the collection and designs in person or online like myself and thousands of others through live streaming watching the Burberry collection. You be should going away feeling yes that was an amazing collection and at the same time a bloody good show.
